  • QWhat is NYCU Liberal Arts College?
    NYCU Liberal Arts College is specially set for undergraduates mostly, and promotes the implementation of the “four-in-one” liberal arts, which includes professional education, general education, workshop and community education, in collaboration with the academic units and parts of administrative units.
  • Q What is the role NYCU Liberal Arts College plays in NYCU?
    The eight essentials of talent cultivation in the 21st century emphasize “good communication skills”, “clear critical thinking skills”, “independent moral judgment”, “active participation in civic responsibility”, “inclusion of diverse lives”, “adaptation to globalization”, “cultivating a wide range of interests”and “employability”. Top universities cultivate social elites with professionalism, morality, and academic accomplishment. After the merger, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University cautiously considered and readjusted general education, which emphasizes life education and creates a diverse field of learning and practice. Therefore, Liberal Arts College is set up. We are looking forward to providing an integrated education with interdisciplinary and balance between group and self. By setting holistic education courses, we hope to guide undergraduates not only to promote the growth of knowledge and personality, but to care for society.

He is not only an elite in the professional realm, but a model of life practice. In the light of the above example, liberal arts is the key to elevating an individual’s spiritual level and humanistic concern to the next level for all fields of experts. Moreover, liberal arts is about learning how to presentate the results of thinking. A system of holistic education promoting interpersonal communication and exchange of ideas consists of courses planned by Liberal Arts College, which will guide you to speculate and express your thoughts.
  • Q If there is a course under other categoeies when selecting, how can I transfer it to general education credits?
    If the course is in one of the categories of general education (for instance, Critical and Creative Thinking is one of general education courses: Literacy), you can download the form for credit transfer from the “Documentations” page, fill in related information, and hand it over for further review.
    Please note that according to “Regulations on General Education Courses”, if the course is the required course for the department or the college you are in, or is the similar course from other teaching units, it cannot be admitted as the graduating credits.
  • QIf I take two general education courses with the same course name but from different departments, can both of them be recognized as credits of general education?
    If the same course is required by your department, students are not allowed to take courses offered by different units as general education credits. Even if the course is not required, the general education credits are only accepted once.
